An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine utilizes magnetic fields and radio signals to visualize internal body structure to create detailed pictures allowing doctors to assess the brain, spine and joints for tumors or injuries in greater detail than on regular X-Rays or CAT scans which rely on ionizing radiation. There are no side effects from MRI scans. MRI scans allow physicians to ‘take a look’ without resorting to exploratory surgery. Once a patient arrives, the procedure takes 30-60 minutes depending on the location of the area of the body to be scanned. Once the scan is completed, the image files are transferred digitally to a secure central server, where a physician can log on to review the results and the report from the radiologist. Unlike physical x-ray films which must be shipped from office to office, digital MRI scans allow specialists in different locations to view the same images simultaneously. The clinic currently takes referrals from doctors for patients covered under WCB, ICBC, Blue Cross and other private insurance providers. Doctors may also refer patients who are willing to pay for their MRI scans to avoid long waits or out-of-town travel. SCANNING SERVICES INCLUDE:
